Basic overview
The Dutch might not get as much direct use out of the minor natives - because they rarely come across population limit issues, due to having fewer villagers to train - and they don’t have any glaring weaknesses in their army with sufficient cards to support it. However, the technologies can come in very handy.

Aside from the fact that the Bhakti Tiger Claws can do a decent job of filling in for Dutch Hussars, the Vegetarianism technology makes it much easier for a Dutch player to keep their economy safe whilst not falling behind. This is because they are not gathering hunt, so with banks included you can gather food and coin (and usually wood as well) very close to home for a long time. |

Although the Cree technology can also work here, it is not as fast-researching as the Tupi Forest Burning technology, and your first bank usually should be built fairly quickly. If you do decide to try to use the Cree here, they do provide extra villagers as well - but be mindful that the technology will take some time to pay off, so be sure that your plan allows for this. These technologies make the wood costs of your banks much more affordable, which allows you to either build more banks or spend those resources elsewhere. It will also make other buildings cheaper as well, so the benefits will be clear to see. |

The Sufi allow you to increase the amount of villagers you can train; for the Dutch this is obviously very useful. It is only a minor increase of 5 in the case of the Dutch, but it is still worth noting. In addition, they also offer the Fasting technology - which can make your villagers gather faster, but at the cost of their HPs - so be sure you can protect them. Early on Sufi elephants could be used to substitute for Hussars, but be aware that they are more specialized units than the Hussars are. |
